WHAT IS IT?
Clear aligners are the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear, custom-made, removable aligners to straighten your teeth. You wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Sunga has prescribed. You'll visit us about every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
Total treatment time averages 12-18 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both may vary from case to case.
WHY WOULD I WANT IT?
Not only are clear aligners virtually invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also usually more comfortable than traditional braces since no wires are used, which also usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments. Clear aligner treatment also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Dr. Sunga will utilize 3D computer imaging technology to demonstrate the complete treatment plan, from the initial position to the final desired position. This imaging technology is then used to design an individualized series of custom-made aligners. You wear each aligner for about two weeks while the teeth move incrementally. After two weeks, the current aligner is replaced with the next one until the final position is achieved.
